Varun Mandgi currently is a student in a dual degree program between Columbia University and Sciences Po Paris. While competing for Maggie Walker Governor’s School in Lincoln-Douglas Debate as captain of the team, he qualified for NSDA National Championship, placed top 64 in the NCFL Grand National Tournament, and was second in the state at the NCFL Virginia State Championship. He briefly served as assistant coach for the James River High School Team in the spring of 2022, and he has helped develop debate programs at several middle and high schools across the Metro Richmond area even as he practices British Parliamentary Debate with the Sciences Po Debate Union. Varun has been coaching Lincoln-Douglas and Public Forum with the Richmond Debate Institute and SPEAK RVA since 2020, and he started working with Champion Briefs in 2023. His passion is law, being the victor of the 2021 We the People National Championship, which tested his knowledge of American constitutional law, and the 2023 French National Champion of the Jessup Cup Moot Court competition which deals with international law; at the international level, he placed Top 16 in the world for the Jessup Cup.
